Depp v Heard. A three part series.

This highly publicized case was a fierce battleground over the truth about a relationship. A messy and complicated one (which many can be).

But it also was a public display, and skewering, of people in pain and conflict. Regardless of motive or the side you identified with.

Is this what "news" should be today?

Part 1: relationships are complicated

Heard
“I behaved in horrible — almost unrecognizable to myself — ways,” Ms. Heard said. “It was very, very toxic. We were awful to each other.” But, she asserted, “I’ve always told the truth.”

v.

Depp

"A very good friend of mine worked as his personal assistant many years ago. He would tell us how Johnny was unfailingly polite, humble, patient and generous with everyone, regardless of their position. He was also just very laid back. He never got worked up about anything."

Have you ever been accused of something that wasn't true, that attacked your character and shook your trust in the world? Or wished you handled things better in an intimate relationship?

Life can go off the tracks, we all deserve a redo.

Try our relationship quiz now. Remember, you can start fresh anytime and work towards becoming an improved version of yourself.

Part 2: how toxic is your social media feed?

Social media can box us into filter bubbles, amplify the drama of life, and be intense breeding grounds for misinformation and, frankly, junk.

These spaces can also be a super positive place to connect with friends and decompress.

Have you thought about curating your sphere of influence?

Is your feed:

- shaping your sense of loneliness or connection
- pulling you away from meaningful relationships
- leaving you feeling anxious, or
- warping the way you see yourself and others?

The 10-Minute Exercise: Clean Your Social Feed

how is your online “diet” impacting who you are now, and who you will become?

Step #1: Grab a piece of paper or create a note in your notetaking app and write down one emotion, quality or topic that you want more of in your life.

Step #2: Open your favorite social channel. Look through hashtags associated with that idea you wrote down. Try to be specific (#financialindependence, #boundaries, #strongabs). Follow people that inspire you.

Step #3: Take a break from people who no longer inspire you or cause you to feel bored, overwhelmed, insecure - or any other feelings you want a break from.

Mute or unfollow these people; it's okay to take a break from people or be a place to unfollow them altogether.

Part 3: fall in love with a person, not an illusion

How do your close relationships serve you and influence your beliefs about love and life's possibilities? The ones you have tucked deep inside, held close.

The people you surround yourself with have a significant impact on how you feel, and who you will become.

And, yes, some relationships are meant to teach you how to walk away from what you no longer align with.

Life can be hard, right? How amazing to surround yourself with people who are a net positive, who fill you up, and can give you that beautiful feeling of being "carried" when times are rough.

Life can be messy and every. single. person. will make relationship mistakes along the way. Do you choose carefully and take time to invest in really getting to know someone?

To fall in love with a person — not an illusion.
